As a cinematographer, directing an experimental film was a unique challenge for me and I believe for all my entire crew.
“Creation” express Sir Daniel's philosophy of “Existential Surrealism.”
“It is all about contrast, In fact, it's tagline is 'Creation begins where destruction ends.’ This is an essential concept in the film. Light and dark, life and death, hot and cold, arid and lush, organic and inorganic, masculine and feminine. The dichotomies of these opposing factors and that fact that one without the other would have no significance is an underlying idea expressed in the film.”
Pre Production, my journey started to get involved more and more with Sir Daniel's philosophy, inspirations and believes about what real concept of Sir Daniel's art style is about.
We developed a simple, but at the same time a very deep artistic communication and vision between us, for what we wanted to share it and bring to the big screen.
Production time was the most amazing and enjoyable time, first of all, because we made new friends, we started interacting with so much talented people, and we knew already that this film would be simply amazing. All our crew was so inspired and exited to start shooting our film, counting the days to move from one to a new location and keep working.
We shot all this in almost 6 weeks approx. In total, 8 days of production. In between this days we had to prepare our sets, processing segments of sculptures in order to demonstrate in an artistic way, how Sir Daniel is capable to create this incredible master pieces. Femme and Homme.
Post Production time,
I would call it...The Sleepless time.
This was the most intense part of this production, as a editor the responsibility to work every single day on a desk, bringing all our amazing shots from set to the timeline, it was the most deepest experience between Sir Daniel's vision, and our film. We wanted to make sure all messages, metaphors, contrasts and meanings were all together embracing our film, and we believe we got it.
Personally, I am very proud of this production, my team, and everyone who was involved in this project from the beginning to the end.
With appreciation, thank you to Sir Daniel Winn, Winn Slavin Fine Art, all my family, friends, and the amazing audience who always supported us.
